About This Tour
The Batwa people were the original custodians of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, living as hunter-gatherers in the forest for thousands of years before it was gazetted as a national park in 1991. This four-day package combines the gorilla trek with an extended Batwa cultural experience — going beyond the standard village visit to spend meaningful time with Batwa community members, learning about forest medicine, traditional hunting techniques, honey gathering, and the stories and songs that have been passed down through generations. The experience is run in partnership with the Batwa community and directly supports their livelihoods. It is one of the most moving and educational experiences available in Uganda, and a powerful complement to the gorilla trek.
