About This Safari
Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda's most remote and arguably most spectacular national park, nestled in the rugged hills and valleys of the Karamoja region in north-eastern Uganda. Covering 1,442 square kilometres, Kidepo is one of Africa's last true wilderness areas — receiving far fewer visitors than the more accessible parks, which means you often have the savanna entirely to yourself. The park is home to species found nowhere else in Uganda, including cheetahs, caracals, bat-eared foxes, and Burchell's zebras. Massive herds of buffalo and elephant roam the Narus Valley, and the Narus River attracts wildlife throughout the dry season. The Karamojong people, one of Uganda's most traditional communities, live on the park's borders and offer a fascinating cultural dimension to the visit. Getting here requires either a charter flight or a long drive — but those who make the journey consistently describe Kidepo as the highlight of their Uganda trip.
