About This Safari

Kibale National Park in western Uganda protects one of the most diverse and intact tracts of tropical rainforest in East Africa. It is home to 13 primate species including the largest population of chimpanzees in Uganda — around 1,500 individuals. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale is one of the most reliable primate encounters in Africa: the habituated communities are well-studied and regularly encountered. The park also hosts red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus, L'Hoest's monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. The adjacent Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a community-run conservation area offering excellent bird watching and additional primate sightings. This 2-day package combines chimpanzee trekking with a Bigodi walk for a complete Kibale experience.
